Staff Spotlight – Kristen Dickey

Tell us a little about yourself! What inspired you to work in education?

I come from a long line of educators, and I wanted to make meaningful differences in the lives of children by helping them overcome communication challenges and celebrating their progress along the way.

What brought you to Magnolia Speech School, and what excites you most about being here?

Working as a speech-language pathologist at Magnolia Speech School has been a dream of mine for years. After retiring from the Mississippi Public Schools this past May, I was lucky enough to be able to join such a supportive, collaborative team that is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential! I am especially excited to contribute to a positive environment where students feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to grow.

What is your favorite part of working with our students?

I love to build meaningful relationships with students and celebrate growth and progress with them and their families!

What is your go-to coffee (or favorite morning) order?

Sugar-free Lavender Latte from Cups with skim milk and Splenda! ☕️

What is one fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

I have moved 10 times.

Outside of the classroom, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love reading on my back porch, walking in nature, and spending time with friends and family.

What is one goal you have for this school year?

I want to personally get to know every student and staff member at MSS!
