Staff Spotlight – Bailey Wood
Tell us a little about yourself! What inspired you to become a teacher?
My name is Bailey Wood, and this is my 4th year at Magnolia Speech School! When I started working here, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in my career. I’ve always known that I wanted to work with children, but I didn’t know exactly how. After spending a few years in the classroom as an assistant, I knew that’s where I was supposed to be. Now, I’m working on my master’s degree in special education, and I’m thrilled to take on my first year of teaching! I’m beyond thankful for the support that Magnolia has given me, as it’s brought me to the career I was meant to have all along!
What brought you to Magnolia Speech School, and what excites you most about being here?
Magnolia Speech School has always been important to me and my family! My now 22-year-old brother was here for his first-grade year after he was diagnosed with ADHD and auditory processing disorder. I was in fifth grade at the time, and I still remember the love and community that we felt from the staff at Magnolia. I decided to come to Magnolia after getting my communication sciences degree, and it immediately felt like home again! That full circle moment is what excites me the most, and the thought of being able to love my students like my brother’s teachers loved him.
What is your favorite part of working with our students?
My favorite thing about working with our students is watching how quickly they grow and learn! Our kids are so incredible, and they impress me more and more every day.
What is your go-to coffee (or favorite morning) order?
Gummy bear loaded tea or peach vibe celsius!
What is one fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
I’m allergic to avocados 🙁
Outside of the classroom, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with friends, watching my favorite shows, and shopping!
What is one goal you have for this school year?
My goal for this year is to keep a positive attitude!
